Would You Rather Beauty Edition | TAG!

Hello lovelies! It's been a very long week since my last post, including me binning an entire bag full of things for an empties post! Honestly, my head has literally been in the clouds. So, I thought I'd lighten the posting mood a tad with a tag! I love tag posts, I love reading them and I love participating. This is the "Would You Rather BEAUTY edition" tag that I found on The Imperfect Beauty's blog, I loved her answers so do go and check that out! Without further ado, lets get cracking!

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
Oh, my eyeshadows! I love lipsticks and mascaras, in fact I've got some posts coming up entirely revolving around my love for both of these, so probably my eyeshadows. I have - very sadly! - found myself moving further and further away from the colourful eye looks of my youth and repeatedly reaching for my lovely taupe eyeshadow, so I honestly don't think my pallettes would be missed quite as much as they would have been a year or two ago, which makes me very sad to admit.

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I'd rather never be able to cut it! I've had to recently cut about 2-3 inches off and even though it's well past boob length it feels like a bob. I couldn't deal with short hair!

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Pink pink pink! I do love the occasional coral cheek but 9 times out of 10 I will pick up a nice baby pink. I just think it suits me a lot better.

If you had £1000 to spend, Would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Probably clothes. That is a hell of a lot of money and I'd feel guilty buying makeup that probably wouldn't last that long. I'd rather invest it in some nice clothes that will just last and not really go out of style.

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

This is hard! All of my lipsticks are either red or pinky so this would never ever work! This is really irritating me haha. Erm, eyeliner as lipstick. Can I stay in the house all day though?

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
We don't have a Sephora, so MAC purely for that reason.

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Probably one eyeshadow. 16 year old me will be crying her little rainbow eyes out, but sadly I do stick to my neutral eyes these days.

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Winter clothes in Summer. We never really get a Summer in England anyway, and even if we did I'm always cold so I normally wear winter clothes anyway.

Would you rather dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Bright nails. I'm not one for nail varnishes anyway, I bite my nails badly so nothing ever looks good, so I don't really wear nail varnish much.

Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
Eye product probably.

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or a messy bun?
A messy bun, for some reason I hate my hair in a ponytail. A messy bun is my go-to for lazy moments.

Would your rather never being able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
I don't wear nail varnish that much anyway because I bit my nails, so never wear nail polish.

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? or sharpie them in everyday?
Oh, this is harsh! I'm swinging between both here. Sharpie them?

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
Nail polish, easily!

So, there you have it. I'm going to be really lazy and just tag everyone who stumbles across this. Please to post links to your answers if you've done this (or any tag really, I'm pretty nosey!) and have fun!

Much love, Maxine xx

nSpa Skincare Review

Hello lovelies! I've been waiting to do this post for such a long time. They were featured back in a skincare haul I did near Easter time and I think I've definitely give them a good enough run to actually know how they work with my skin and give a fair critique.

I picked up the Brightening Detox Scrub and the Replenishing Moisture Mask. I was so excited about these, everybody who has even taken a slight glance at this blog knows I love nSpa. I own so many of their showergels and body scrubs and body butters and God knows what else, so when I definitely knew I'd be picking these up at some point.
nSpa Brightening Detox Scrub - £4.50
This was actually the product I popped in to get, I didn't mean to pick up the mask at all. It was featured in a magazine (I forget which one now, maybe Look?) and had heard some generally good things about this, so I was excited to get my hands on it. It promises to "draw out impurities an smooth skin". Does it live up to its promises? Not really. I am hugely disappointed with this. I've been using this twice a week as it suggests on the bottle and as have done with all other exfoliators since the beginning of my beauty life. And, I just don't like this. I wanted this to work so bad, but I hated it. I never, ever get spots unless I'm ill but this breaks me out so badly. My skin doesn't feel smooth, it feels horrible. I know that some products make your skin worse before it's better but I've never bought into that, and even if I did I think I've given this a fair enough chance to know that I will not be using this again. Massive disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend it.

nSpa Replenishing Moisture Mask - £4.50

I actually didn't mean to pick this mask up, but it was on a deal and I knew I would buy it at some point and I might as well take advantage of the offer. It promises to "restore moisture to dehydrated skin" and contains sweet almond oil and oil of neroli. Does it live up to its promises? Yes, yes it does! I'm thoroughly pleased with this, I have tried endless amounts of masks that claim to hydrate my skin and I've ended up binning because for one reason or another I hated them. This, however will definitely be repurchased when I run out. A tiny little bit goes a long way, I use about a 20p piece sized blob and work it all over my skin after it's been cleansed and down onto my neck 2-3 times a week, and I've noticed such a change in my skin. It's smoother and definitely more hydrated, I've noticed minimal amounts of flaky skin since I started using it. One thing that always bothers me is the fact masks solely for the purpose of hydration tend to be greasy on the skin, but this wasn't. It sinks in and actually feels like it's working, and you can see the results from the first use. I would, without a doubt, recommend this.

These are currently still on the 2 for £8 deal I picked them up on, and are available in ASDA.

Much love, Maxine xx

Monthly Favourites | April 2013

Hello lovelies! I know I'm a tad late on the bandwagon this month (again!), but it's been a bit hectic gathering all the lovely things I want to discuss and sorting out days and orders and whatnot. I do apologize. There's not much new I've been loving this month - I try not to feature the same things two posts in a row. So, let the favouriting begin!

The dreaded Moroccan Argan Oil, I CANNOT get a picture of this to look decent
Avon 3D Rescue Leave-In Treatment | Avon 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil

Avon 3D Rescue Leave-In Treatment. Review can be found in my haircare routine post.
Avon 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil. Review can be found in my haircare routine post.

Creightons Lime and Grapefruit Showergel | nSpa Coconut Body Butter.

Creigtons Lime & Grapefruit Showergel, £4. This showergel is absolutely the perfect showergel for the transition into spring and summer, it's very citrusy and clean smelling with just a hint of . I can't get enough of it, although the smell doesn't linger around for very long after you've stepped out of the shower, which is a disappointment.
nSpa Coconut Body Butter, £3. This is without a doubt the creamiest body butter I've ever used - and I've used a lot. It literally just melts into the skin, it smells absolutely heavenly, and for the price it can't be faulted in my opinion.

Rimmel Apocalips in 501 Stella | Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara | Maybelline Falsies Volum' Express Mascara in Black Drama

Rimmel Apocalips in 501 Stella, £5.99. Everyone has raved about this at some point or another, if you haven't been swept up in the hype of these products I honestly don't know where you've been! Stella is a gorgeous pinky-red colour which is perfect for bold-lip-loving old me! A full review will be coming up!
Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara, £6.99. This is a gorgeous brush, it's got a lovely thick, fat brush which gives you massive volume. One thing to beware of is the clumpiness - one slight mishap and you've got 2 eyelashes!
Maybelline Falsies Mascara, £6.99. Again, one of those blogger products that just got hyped up when it came out. I actually got this the week it was released and have repurchased countless times since, if it's ever discontinued you'll find me in the aisles of Superdrug wailing!

Music
Mumford & Sons - White Blank Page | Rudimental - Waiting All Night | John Adams - Pompeii Cover

Mumford & Sons-White Blank Page. I've actually recently re-purchased the Sigh No More album on my Kindle and it's just been replaying ever since. I can't get enough of the entire album, but White Blank Page has definitely been the most-played!

Rudimental - Waiting All Night. I love this song, it's definitely one of those songs you know will be taken into summer an straight onto the summer anthems list.

John Adams - Pompeii Cover. I actually did an entire post about this, it can be found here.

Other
The Vampire Diaries | 24 Hours in A&E | Mark Cross on Radio Cabin.
The Vampire Diaries. I've never been a fan of this show, in fact I think I've watched the first episode about 3 times but never got further. But, I recently forced myself to get past it and at least watch the first 3 episodes, so that I could say I've given it a fair chance. 3 weeks and 3 seasons later, I think I can honestly say I'm addicted!
24 Hours in A&E. I'm absolutely in love with this show and I honestly can't get enough of it. I'm so pleased it's back for another series! Emergency medicine is definitely the area of medicine I myself am more interested in getting into so that plays it's part, but I just find it so interesting to see the way all the different people react. All the different relationships and situations, people are put into and the ways they all react and come together. I could talk for hours and hours about it.
Mark Cross on Radio Cabin. Now, this is a bit of a cheeky plug 'cause this bloke is in fact my mate. I've never listened to his show before, but got bored the other week and game it a listen and it's actually alright (I can't be too nice, can I?!). It is a sports show so if you're not interested in sports it may not appeal to you too much, but I love sports so it suits me (although I'm not sure I want to listen to his report of out defeat against Villa, boooo!). It's on 3-6pm on a Saturday, and you can listen live here. Give him a tweet here with any requests for music (please no Shakira!).

So, that was my April favourites! I hope you all had a wonderful April and can excuse my lateness on posting this!

Much love, Maxine xx

Recent Instagramness | April 2013

Hello lovelies! It's that time again where I've accumulated enough Instagram pictures to show you the goings-on in my life recently. Although I do have the instagram widget to the left so you're almost instantly updated on what I post, I think it's nice to see the "highlights" and have a bit of a background story to each picture. Anyway, without further ado, lets crack on!

1. Playing around on a photo editing app on my phone and created this, I was pretty amused! 2. Ava is getting massive, it was her first time seeing Josh in a couple of weeks, they definitely missed each other. 3. I caught my cat mid-yawn, he looked absolutely demonic. 4. The Gap Medics booklet I was given by my college career adviser. It's a programme for hopeful medical students to gain experience abroad, that I'm definitely contemplating! 5. Mid-week wine, naughty! 6. Cuddles off the Baby Dog whilst watching Vampire Diaries. I've seen the first episode about four times and never loved it, but I forced myself to get through the first 3 episodes about 2-3 weeks ago and now I'm addicted! 7. Ava, again. 8. We lost our beautiful man on Sunday morning. He was a rescue cat, and had been with us 8 years. He's missed very much. 9 My attempt at Slutty Brownies! 10. The slutty brownie creation process, they were lovely! 11. New Big Bang theory t-shirt I found on eBay. 12. And, finally what is an instagram post without a bit of Kaiser love? He looked cute lying on my bedroom floor cuddled up with Josh's hoodie.

So, there you have it. The past month in Instagram pictures. I'm trying to Instagram more, but I just don't lead an interesting enough life! Feel free to leave links to your Instagrams!

Much love, Maxine xx

The Shopaholic Tag | Tagged by Mia!

Hello lovelies, so yesterday as I was having a massive catch-up of all my favourite blogs I'd been neglecting to read over the weekend, I came across this tag posted by Mia  who very kindly tagged me. I love the tag idea and I've been reading and watching a lot of my favourite blogging/vlogging lovelies do this, so it's finally my turn! Definitely check Mia  out, her blog is amazing and she's such a sweetheart.

Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Oh yes! (totally didn't mean the Churchill-style start there!). I'm not a big fan of parting with my pennies, but I can't leave a shop without buying something. My room is literally overflowing with boxes and boxes of products I haven't used up yet and I won't even begin on my wardrobe(s)!

How would you classify your style?
A mess! I'm typically quite casual with a bit of a girly edge, jeans and a tee but glammed up a bit.

What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?

Superdrug or Boots are the absolute worst shops for me to walk into if I'm trying to save up! There's so many deals, so I'll go in expecting to just buy a foundation, come out £30 lighter with bags of stuff I didn't need but still think I've saved money, it's mental! Also, New Look is my fashion go-to, I ADORE their jewelery and always end up leaving with at least a pair of earrings (more likely 20 pairs, some jeans and half their supply of tops. Ooops!).

Where do you find the best deals?
I love asos, they've always got some kind of sale on where you can save an absolute fortune on something. I'm forever getting emails about one deal or another! Product-wise, I know Boots is the cult beauty shot and whatnot but I much prefer Superdrug. I always seem to save a bit more and get my grubby little mits on a lot more bargains than I do in Boots.

What designer are you willing to splurge for?
Much like Mia, I would more than willingly splurge on some Jeffrey Campbels! I'm more likely to splurge on designer shoes than clothes, because in all honesty I tend to prefer the high street versions and they're about 10% of the price!

Do you have a go to shopping outfit?

Not necessarily, no. I'll stick away from skinny jeans though, I honestly couldn't be bothered taking them off every two seconds to try something new on! No way. I probably do subconsciously go for leggings and a tee, simple and easy enough to get in and out of.

What is your guilty pleasure? (Not including makeup)
Joggers, I know they're about as fashiony as a black bag but oh my goodness are they comfy!

What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?

Skinny jeans, they're so versatile! You can dress them up for a meal or a night out, but dress them down with a printed tee or a jumper for college or just going about running errands.

What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Whether it stays or doesn't I'll still wear it, but I love my leather jacket with a passion and couldn't bear to see it go out of fashion! I own an absolutely shocking amount in various colours and styles that I've accumulated over the past few years. Again, copying off Mia a tad I love the boho, festival thing that comes back every spring/summer. Such an versatile look!

What trend did you love that passed way to quickly?
I'm honestly so devastated the maroon trend from Autumn/Winte
r is disappearing, if it doesn't come back in this winter I'll probably cry! I'm happy pretending England has got some form of sunny weather with my pastels and neons for the moment, but if I can't snap up some lovely maroon jumpers and tops this winter I'll complain to somebody (probably you lovely lot, how lucky!).

Who is your fashion icon?
I love Miley Cyrus' and Ashley Benson's style with a bit of Rita Ora and Jessy J thrown in for good measure! If I was to look to anyone for a bit of inspiration I'd turn to them first! Also, whether I'd go as far as to say "icon" I'm unsure but I love Lilly of LLYMLRS's style a lot, and definitely take inspiration from her OOTD's. I know this is a tad off-topic but I honestly spent a good year or two of my life around about me being 16 trying to be Taylor Momsen, and still have a bit of a soft-spot for her, although I think the sky-high platforms and leather dresses will stay well away from my wardrobe!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tag, I really can't thank Mia enough. Although, now I really want to go and buy loads of new things (hopefully ebay have some left-over marroon items!).

I tag:
And, anyone else who happens to stumble across this and thinks they'd enjoy it as much as I did!

Much love, Maxine xx
